The Power of Self-Coaching – Be your Own Number One Fan. I have always been fascinated by the word self-coaching. Why? You ask?
We all want to achieve that goal we constantly dream about. You might not have your number one fan to push you to achieve your goals. But if you can be your own number one fan and keep pushing yourself, even if you don’t feel like, guess what? You will go all the way.
Self-coaching is about mentally going through a present situation and tapping into your inner wisdom to determine the best possible outcome.
It is a conversation between the ego-self and the inner self (wisdom).
The power of self-coaching relies on the fact that you can learn to defeat whatever holds you back in life. Move from constantly thinking to finally taking action.
Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved. William Jennings.
Self-coaching can help you take action in order to get the result you want.
The good thing about self-coaching is that it is quick, you can do it any time of the day and, most importantly it is free.
When it comes to self-coaching you must learn to use your mind and not allow your mind to use you.
I love the way Brooke Castillo described self-coaching in her book self-coaching 101. “When you think a thought – you feel a feeling. When you feel a feeling – you take action, or maybe decide not to, depending on how you feel. Your action which is your behaviour creates your experience in your life.”
So, when you hear popular authors say, change your thinking change your life? This explains it all.
If you can’t change your circumstance, try and change the way you feel about it and look for the positive in that circumstances or in that situation.
Whatever you think about, bad or good creates a feeling within you that leads you to take action. This action leads to a result we may or may not like.
Food for Thought
Sometimes we think it is the circumstances or situation we find ourselves in that causes the way we feel. No, it’s not – it’s our thinking about the situation/circumstance that results in the way we feel.
How self-coaching works
Thoughts – What are your thoughts about the situation? Notice and observe those thoughts.
Feelings – while you are observing those thoughts. How does this make you feel? Good, bad, not sure? Notice your energy level. Do you feel like doing something productive or you just want to sit in front of the telly and munch on snacks or whatever you think will give you comfort that very moment?
Action – observe your behaviour. Are you trying to control the way you feel with external stimuli such as drink, party, food, blaming, shouting or are you just calm and feeling the present moment and doing something positive towards your heart desire?
Result – are you happy with your outcome as a result of your action or are you at a point saying if I had known I should have taken a different action?
We cannot control what goes on around us but we can control how we think about the situation. This to me is self-coaching. Change your thought and be your own number one fan.
Reasons to self-coaching
Be self-aware of your thoughts and the way you feel
Remove negative thoughts from your mind to have peace of mind
Create the results you want
Become more deliberate about your thinking
Manifest what you want in your life…remember change your thinking – change your life
Thrive for a better and positive feeling
Have a 1-1 conversation with yourself before taking action
Be your own number one fan and take one small step at a time.
It might take time to master this technique. But the more deliberate you are about it, the more aware you become of yourself.
Remember, your thoughts create your feelings. Your feelings result in you taking action.
Through self-coaching, you can deliberately take control of your thoughts to get the results you desire. Which is to be happy and have peace of mind.
Irrespective of what we want in life the ultimate result is to be happy and to be at peace.
In order to unlock your full potential, you must continue to observe your thoughts irrespective of your circumstance or situation.
In this time and day where we allow the world around us to control our thoughts and action, we must learn to take back control and listen to our inner wisdom.
Through self-coaching, you can become your own number one fan. Now that is the power of self-coaching.
